Rules & Regulations for The Reeds – Match Lake at Kernow Fishery

At Kernow Fishery, we strive to create a safe, fair, and enjoyable fishing environment for all. To ensure The Reeds remains a top-quality match and leisure lake, please follow our rules:

General Fishing Rules

✔ All anglers must have a valid ticket before fishing
Barbless hooks only – no micro barbs or trebles
Maximum line strength: 10lb
No fixed rigs – all tackle must be safe and fish-friendly
✔ Keepnets only permitted during matches, OR with express consent 
✔ Only fish from the peg / swim provided
✔ Halfway rule at all times 

Fish Care

Unhooking mats required for all specimen fish
Treat all fish with care – use wet hands when handling
Fish must not be removed or introduced to the lake
All fish must be returned safely to the water

Bait Restrictions

No cat meat, tiger nuts or  excessive groundbait
Pellets must be fishery-approved – available onsite (VALID FROM AUGEST 2025)
No live bait or artificial bait

Etiquette & Safety

Respect fellow anglers – keep noise levels down
No littering – use provided bins
No drugs or alcohol
Children under 12 must be supervised
Dogs must be kept on a lead

Matches & Booking

Match bookings must be arranged in advance
Club matches follow additional regulations – provided upon booking
Follow peg assignments during matches

Failure to follow these rules may result in removal from the fishery. Please respect the environment, our staff, and fellow anglers to ensure The Reeds remains an incredible fishing venue for all!

Rules & Regulations for Sharkies Pit – Specimen Lake at Kernow Fishery

At Kernow Fishery, we want to ensure that Sharkies Pit remains an outstanding specimen lake where big fish thrive and anglers enjoy a fair, respectful, and safe fishing experience. Please follow these rules to protect our fishery and its incredible stocks.

General Fishing Rules

✔ All anglers must have a valid ticket before fishing
Barbless hooks only – no micro barbs or trebles
Specimen Net when Carp Fishing 32" min
No fixed rigs – all tackle must be safe for fish
Lead free leader or tubing when Carp Fishing
Fish from swims only
Keepnets are not permitted – fish must be returned immediately

Fish Care & Handling

Large landing nets recommended for bigger fish
Treat all fish with care – use wet hands when handling
No removing or introducing fish to the lake
All fish must be returned safely to the water
