We are located in the heart of the county, offering a premier destination for fishing in Cornwall. Our site spans over 6 acres and features two beautifully maintained lakes: the Pleasure Lake (The Reeds) and the Specimen Lake (Sharkies). We can be found on Google Maps at Kernow Coarse Fishery, Strawberry Lane, Hayle, TR27 5JS

What species can I catch at Kernow Coarse Fishery?

We are a diverse coarse fishery. If you are looking for carp fishing in Cornwall, our Specimen Lake holds large Mirror, Common, Leathers, Linear, Koi and Grass Carp. For those interested in perch fishing in Cornwall, our lakes are home to stunning specimen Perch. You can also catch:

  • Rudd & Golden Rudd

  • Roach, Eels

  • Crucian Carp, Tench

Do I need to book in advance?
No, There is no need to book to fish at Kernow Coarse Fishery but we do recommend messaging us on Facebook if you plan on a early start.


Is there a tackle shop on-site?
Yes! We have a fully stocked on-site tackle shop. We provide a range of bait, terminal tackle, and expert advice to ensure you have everything you need for a successful day of coarse fishing in Cornwall.

Which lake should I choose?

  • The Pleasure Lake: Ideal for high-catch rates, beginners, and those looking for quality perch fishing and silverfish.

  • The Specimen Lake: Best for experienced anglers focused on carp fishing and larger specimens.

Is the fishery family-friendly?

Absolutely. As a Not-for-Profit Community Fishery, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming environment for all ages and abilities. We aim to promote the sport of angling within the Cornish community.

What are the fishery rules?
To protect our fish and the environment, we have a few standard rules:

Landing nets and unhooking mats must be used at all times. Barbless hooks etc please visit our Rule page.

Do I need a Environment Agency Rod Licence 
Yes anyone aged 12 plus will need a EA Rod Licence, You will NOT need one when attending The Mighty Anglers Kids Club.

Is there parking onsite?
Yes we have two car parks and an overflow when needed. Disabled anglers can park fairly close to 3 pegs on The Reeds and the Car Park bank of Sharkies Lake.

Is there toilets?
Yes, We have 2 toilets onsite which are maintained on a daily basis, one is also disabled / wheelchair friendly.

How deep are the lakes?
Great question! The Reeds lake is between 4ft-7ft. Sharkies is between 4ft on the Car Park bank and 7ft on the A30 Bank.

How many pegs are on The Reeds Lake?
The Reeds lake has currently 11 double pegs, 8 of them are very easily accessed.

How many Swims on Sharkies Lake?
Sharkies has over 30 pegs, but we have split the lake into 12 sections. That means most sections has a choice of 3 or 4 pegs to actually fish from and bivvy up on. You will have a section of water, which 3 rods will easily cover.

Can I volunteer?
Absolutely we are always looking for help with things like The Mighty Anglers CIC kids club and maintenance.
